Why Do We Always Need More Money?

They say that money isn’t everything. Money can’t buy you happiness, health or love right? We are frequently advised that pursuing material wealth is not the most important goal in life. What if, though, money truly is everything (or nearly everything)?

There are many viewpoints on money. The notion that “Money is root of all evil” and that “it can’t buy happiness” is on one end of the spectrum. On the other hand, there is a massive financial sector full of wealth-building professionals competing for your attention. The fact is that- whether you like it or not- Money is important.

Money is something that is really important, but it is not everything. Beyond meeting our most basic requirements, money helps us to pursue our goals and supports the things that we really care about the most such as our family, health care, education, charitable giving, adventure, and pleasure. Money helps us in obtaining some of life's intangibles such as freedom or independence, the chance to fully utilize our abilities and talents, the capacity to determine our own path in life, and financial stability. With money, a lot of good can be accomplished in life and a lot of unnecessary suffering can be prevented or stopped.

Why is Money Everything?

Broadly speaking, money is everything because of the things it can buy you like security, freedom, a certain degree of health, and even happiness. Money is a tool that can be utilized to gain things if you want those things more and more.

Basically, having money can help you achieve your goals and the things you care about in life. We’ll go into great detail on why money is everything.

Security:

Money is essentially a form of security. In order to survive in a society, you must have money to meet your fundamental necessities such as for food, water, shelter and clothing. We simply cannot survive without it and money is a tool that can be utilized to gain things if you want them more.

Freedom:

Money can do much more once your basic necessities have been satisfied. It can give you the opportunity to buy the time that you can later serve for other good purposes and gives you the ability to do some meaningful tasks.

If you have money, you can spend less time on activities you dislike and more time on those things you enjoy. Having money gives you the freedom to decide how you want to spend your time whether it is with the people you love or doing the things you enjoy.

Money May Improve Your Health:

Money can be utilized to improve your health, but it won’t miraculously make you fit and healthy. Money can benefit your health in a variety of ways if used properly such as:

Fitness:

You can exercise and maintain a healthy lifestyle on any budget but having money can make exercising easier for you. It can purchase the new gym-membership subscription that you’ve been eyeing on, but unfortunately, it can’t make you wake up every morning for gym, you are responsible for that.

Diet:

Money cannot miraculously buy you a healthy diet just like fitness. However, it is a platform that allows you to buy things like nutritious food or you can have a consultation with a nutritionist that can create a diet plan only for you.

3. Strengthens Mental Health:

People frequently experience anxiety, stress, and fear when it comes to money. Even though having money doesn’t make these unpleasant emotions disappear completely from your life, it certainly lessens negative emotions. It might also bring you comfort when it comes to your finances at least.

Money Frees you from Working to Survive:

Thanks to the money you can choose the task you want to do or, in some situations, decide not to do any work at all. Imagine having an option to leave a demanding, low-paying job that you can detest. You have the power and freedom to do that because you have money.

5. Money Helps Ease Financial Stress:

A major source of stress for people is their finances. It may have detrimental effects on one’s physical and mental health. Numerous research shows the link between anxiety, depression, and poverty. Even those who are not poor nonetheless experience stress related to money. Financial stress greatly decreases once a person’s finances are stable.

6. Money Helps Families to Aid Each Other:

People who succeed in life almost always got support from their family. Many people rely on their relatives for financial support. When Jeff Bezos started to launch Amazon, he received $30,000 from his parents. Exchanges of money are common even among the families with non-billionaire members. The more money a person has, the more he can be helpful to family or friends who are in need. Although it can lead to complicated family relationships, it is essential for many families which belong to middle-class.

7. Money is Key to Happiness:

An old proverb “Money can’t buy happiness” doesn’t seem to be valid for the new era. According to a well-known study from 2010, life satisfaction rises with income. But a study in 2021 showed that happiness does increase with income even at $75,000 per year. There is no doubt that researchers will keep on exploring the connection between money and happiness.

Is It All About the Money?

To some extent, it is true. Some would argue that not all aspects of life revolve around money. A serene beach meditation in the morning, a sunny day jog in the sprinklers, long phone conversation with a close buddy. These are all free, right? Are you not forgetting about these everyday pleasures of life if you claim that money is everything?

But money is essential since you require it to access the beach, purchase the sprinklers, and but the phone you use to contact your loved ones. Because of this, despite all the basics, seemingly free joys in life, I continue to think that money is everything.

Bottom Line: Money is Something You’ll Always Need:

Working to make money may seem like a headache and hassle to you, particularly if your job is boring and you don’t enjoy doing it. Money still justifies your labor though. You get something of worth that enables you to live your life because you are paid for your work.
